The Old Homestead is an award-winning country guest house offering high quality bed and breakfast accommodation in the Lorton Valley in The Lake District National Park. The property consists of a stunning renovation of a traditonal Cumbrian long house and is full of character and Olde World charm but has been designed with comfort in mind. The light and airy rooms have exposed beams complimented by Oak furniture, and slate floors warmed by underfloor heating. Two of our ground-floor rooms have facilities for guests with mobility problems.The Old Homestead has a large, welcoming lounge with an Honesty Bar for a relaxing drink by the log fire. Your hosts Zen and Jayne, are there to welcome you and cook a traditional Cumbrian breakfast (vegetarian option available) or continental breakfast to ready you for the days events. Our guest house is situated in the Northern Lake District and lies at the head of the idyllic vale of Lorton. The property is only two miles from the market town of Cockermouth and ten miles from Keswick. There are five lakes within easy driving distance - Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite, Crummock Water, Buttermere and Loweswater.

M6 north, take Penrith exit 40 onto the A66 in the direction of Keswick.Continue on the A66 past Keswick for approx 5 miles, turn left at sign Lorton 4 Buttermere 10. At T junction turn right and continue until sign for Old Homestead indicates left turn. After 200 metres take SECOND LEFT. You've arrived!
