It has luxurious rooms, an award-winning restaurant and a terrace barbistro. Rooms at the Trout feature satellite flat-screen TVs with Sky Sports and free wired internet. Bathrooms include The White Company toiletries, and some rooms have river and garden views. The elegant Derwent Restaurant serves fine English cuisine from an extensive à la carte menu. The modern Terrace Bar and Bistro has a varied menu and a heated outdoor seating area. The Trout Hotel is next to Wordsworth House, the birthplace of the great poet. Bassenthwaite Lake is a 10-minute drive away and free parking is available at The Trout.

Directions

From the South leave the M6 motorway at junction 40 (Penrith) and take the A66 signed Keswick and Cockermouth follow the raod for approx 2.3 miles. At the rounderbout signed for Cockermouth turn right by the Oakhurst Filling Station, follow the directions for the Town centre. Turn left at the mini roundabout opposite Wordsworth house. The hotel is directly on the right (long black and white building with a large car park and garden to the side). From the North on reaching the ScottishEnglish border at Gretna take the A74 to carlisle then proceed onto the A595 which is the direct road to Cockermouth (22 Miles). Turn left at the roundabout signed Cockermouth, go down the hill and turn left at the mini roundabout we are on the left hand side just past the church. From the East take the A69 then proceed from carlisle on the A595.
